Through much of his childhood, Jimmy spent countless hours playing French Horn in a classical context. He spent his high school years playing in marching band competitions. After leaving music for a time, Jimmy fell in love with the plunk and thump of the banjo when he heard the music of Earl Scruggs, and he hasn't looked back since. He currently plays in the Lost Fiddle Stringband, a group whose main focus is the rendition of instrumental fiddle tunes. Jimmy has been an educator for almost a decade, teaching and tutoring students in the areas of mathematics, computer science, dance, and of course music. This gives him an ability to articulate information while teaching that a musician who "just plays naturally" may have a more difficult time describing.
