Ben is a pianist, keyboardist, songwriter, music teacher and composer living in Knoxville, TN. Having worked mostly as a pianist and keyboardist for the past 24 years with a myriad of bands that have led him through a labyrinth of styles ranging from Prog Rock to Delta Blues~from Jazz Fusion to Americana, Ben has had the good fortune to play with various bands which have opened for such greats as Johnny Winter, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, John Scofield, Pinetop Perkins, The Turtles and more. He has been a full time member of The Mitch Rutman Group, Free Fourmula, Michael Crawley and The Macdaddies, People of the Squares, Brent Thompson and His Wandering Circus and many other bands. He worked briefly with The Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus as a keyboardist in The Red Unit Band in the mid 1990s. He was the pianist in the house band for Tn Shines~a very popular Americana showcase hosted by country music great, Jim Lauderdale. Back in 2005, Ben hand picked some of Knoxville's most enigmatic and talented instrumentalists to form "Countless Sheep". The band's first recording entitled "Drinking the World from a Glass" that consists of Ben's original songs and compositions was later released and continues to spark the interest of music critics, fans and musicians of varying types. In addition to teaching piano lessons at The Parlor, Ben is currently on the faculty of The Community School of the Arts as a both a piano instructor and Music Appreciation Teacher. He also composes piano based instrumental music for TV and other visual media using the alias "Horseradish Tree Music". Some of his instrumental music has been licensed by a production music company called ROBA, which is based in Hamburg Germany.
